The Dobbs Decision & The Changing Constitutional Right to Privacy

Thu Sep 15 2022 11:00AM – 12:30PM | Thu Sep 15 2022

Event Description:

The John C. West Forum on Politics & Policy and the Department of Political Science at Winthrop University will be hosting University of South Carolina Law Professor Thomas Crocker as the university’s 2022 Constitution Day speaker. As a Constitutional scholar, Professor Crocker will talk us through the legal arguments of Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, No. 19-1392, 597 U.S. (2022), a landmark decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in which the court held that the Constitution of the United States does not confer a federal guarantee of a right to abortion. This non-partisan talk will help the audience understand the legal arguments used in the case and how they differ from the legal arguments used in previous privacy cases.
