Find Spring in Your Eyes: Life and Beauty in East Asian Festivals

Event Description:

This event will begin with Dr. Catherine Chang’s introduction about East Asian festivals and celebrations in spring to address East Asian cultures. The various spring festivals and celebrations such as the Qingming Festival in China and Taiwan, the Hinamatsuri (Girls’ Day) in Japan and the cherry blossom celebration in all areas express the appreciation of life and beauty. Then, Ms. Chie Drake will have a demonstration of Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement) to further introduce a holistic East Asian concept that integrates nature and the human world together.
